Over at 3scale we put together a mini-survey of the latest 1000 APIs to get listed on programmable web and came up with some interesting results:
- Only 17% of the APIs in the last 3 months came from what would be seen as Tech Startups.
- Most APIs come from small and medium companies - but the true long tail has yet to emerge.
- Business Models are becoming consolidated.
- Mobile is a major driver for APIs - although the number of APIs serving purely mobile was lower than expected, over 60% of all listed APIs targeted mobile in some way.
